VIN tag
Any suggestions for refurbishing the VIN tag?
This is a 57 - and the basic problem is oxidation. All of the Black is still in tact, but there is surface oxidation - can't tell if it is under the black or on top. Thanks Brian |
Unless you are really attached to your original data plate, I would just get a new one. They are available. I work in a restoration shop where we do a lot of small bird restorations, and the boss just sends in the info of the old data plate and has a new one made up. They come back with the new rivets as well. I don't have a company name off hand, but I can get for you.

That would be great if you could get me the name!
Thanks! |
I'll be into the shop later this week and I'll get the boss to copy out the name and contact info of the people who do the data plate work. I'll get back to you.

Our shop source for data plates is Marti Auto Works, 12007 W Peoria, El Mirage, AZ 85335 Phone 623-935-2558 ( $30 for years 55-60 ). Our shop has had many dealings with them, and we've always been more than pleased with their results. Obviously, you will need to not only supply all of the details and serial numbers for your car, but a copy of the ownership in your name as well.

Thanks for the help!
