Auto choke heat tube

My '56 312 has had the auto choke heat tubes removed and the small ports on the manifold plugged. I am trying to return it to correct condition and cannot find any diagram that shows how the new tubes are installed. I have the parts and assume one length of tube passes completely through the exhaust passage directly under the carb. Before I remove the manifold and start drilling holes in it I would really like to be sure I'm doing it correctly and not just making more of a problem. Haven't been able to find one in my neighborhood to look at either.
