Gearbox Removal in 1956 Thunderbird...
Hello everyone. I have just found this forum and was hoping that someone could help me with a problem I am having. I am working on a '56 Thunderbird and need to remove the gearbox. It is 312 Y Block powered and has a 3 speed overdrive box. My question is: can I remove the gearbox without removing the engine? I just can't tell if there is enough room to slide the gearbox back before it hits the chassis.

I don't have a shop manual that is why I was asking if any of your members had done this job before. I got a response to the same question that I posted on the Ford FE forum and he quoted the shop manual for me.
