Jim,
If your carb is the stock one that came with the 292, its a Holley 4000. Rebuild gasket kits are readily available, but it really helps if you can find an old mechanic who was around in their heyday to do the carb refurbish and tune up for you.

pony carbs advertises quality builds of teapots ,as do some local places in dallas,,any advice on keeping mine or a possible upgrade which probably involves a dist change
