Water comes in at front top of door
When it rains, I have a bad leak at the top front corner of my doors on my '56.
Maybe there is part of the rubber missing?? There is a rubber that goes down the chrome windshield pillar, which comes to an end above the door. Then there's a rubber that goes up the front edge of the door, along the short horizontal part, then turns up a bit, then comes to an end. Nothing goes across to link these together, so water runs down the vertical rubber on the chrome windshield pillar, and straight inside. Is there some thing missing? |

Peter,
Silly Boy - Why are you driving in the rain? Just Kidding. I tried to attach a Thunderbird Door Seals doc I put together from the Product Service Letters which I got from CTCI but it was too big. I have attached the .jpg files that are in the doc. http://www.ctci.org/store.php/produc...-tbirds-110-27 There is a Trim and Sealer Manual also but this gives better instructions. Door seals are also covered in the Restoration Manual. It is well worth looking over the publications CTCI has. Back to Door Seals. One file is the Service Letter P250 Item 1143 which came out when the problem first appeared. That is one method. It also has the files for the procedures for checking other door seals from pgs 111-3. While it states the Secondary Door Seals were on late 55 on that is not always the case. They may have been skipped or they may have been taken off when the car was repainted or for some other reason. They are available from your favorite Tbird parts vendor for about 3 dollars each. No guarantees but this should help some. Jim
