It doesnt make the noise if the brakes aren't applied. But they dont work. The brake lights only work if the bottom gold prong in the sequencer is being pressed by the white spinning shaft (in the sequencer). And if the prong is not being pressed the wires to the signal relay only get power in small blasts about 5 seconds apart.

Looks like you have some serious electrical inspecting to do. Get the wiring diagram out!

Alright so Ive been reading the crap out of the shop book. Ive figured out why the brakes only work when the bottom prong is depressed, but the shaft still doesnt spin. All the wires in the sequential are getting power. The wires going to my relay are getting power, but the wire plug that hooks into the relay has a melted corner which Ive read that means its malfunctioned.

Which brought me to my next problem when I looked for a new relay for the car, Ive found 2 different parts under "turn signal relay". One is the little silver box with the melted plug (which I believe is the relay) Then the black board to the right of it w/ all the red, green and yellow wires. I checked the wires on the black board and theyre not getting any power to them. So my questions at the moment is, is the silver box the relay? and if it is, what is the black board? and does the current go from the sequencer to silver box to black board? Or black board to silver box to sequencer? I know these are dumb questions. I just dont want to buy a part that I dont need. When it comes to engines and body, Im fine, but wiring is a different world to me. Thanks for any help.

Eric, I hope this picture helps.
I no longer have this system in the car, I replaced it with the much better electronic system.

Thanks Bob that did help. Did you go to the Mustang sequential light unit?

Looking at the picture, its my turn signal relay that is getting no power. But also after looking at the pic, you have the flasher relay and the Brake relay and they both look the same. I only have 3 things back there. Im guessing its the sequential, Brake relay (since it clicks when I hit the brake and if the plug comes loose the break lights dont work), then signal relay. Heres a pic of what Im looking at. Im still curious which way the current goes. From sequential to signal relay, or signal relay to sequential.[IMG][/IMG]

Eric" The turn signal switch sends power to both when you activate the T.S. switch.

power goes to the sequencer (flasher) to start the sequencial lights. Power goes to the turn signal relay to tell the system which side the sequencial lights should flash on. Do you have your wiring diagram yet??

Hey Harley, no I dont have the diagram. Just the shop manual. But the trouble shooting link Bob posted helped out a lot, and if that is accurate, then my turn signal switch is the problem. My relay or anything doesnt click when I use the switch and plus it sparks. So Im going to order a new switch and that should fix my problem. I hope.
