Hood Hinges

Hi -

My 67 hardtop has a hood that sticks up about 1/4 " above the fenders at the back where the hinges mount. This seems to be a common problem.

The hinges are already lowered to the bottom position from what I can see.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I have helped this problem in two ways in the past. One is to elongate the mounting holes to lower the hood. The other way is to rotate the hood and hinges as a unit.

re: hinges

Hi - thank you for the quick reply!

I'm not sure what you mean by rotate the hood and hinges as a unit?

Thanks much!

Hood Hinges

Hi - that was what someone suggested - to rotate or reverse the hinges. They are not reversible.

I have since learned of an outfit that rebuilds hinges (SMS) so that they close properly. Apparently the rivets and holes in the hinges wear over the years and they don't close all the way. I have to push my hood down on each side for it to close completely back by the windshield.

I would like to exchange pictures of our cars. I also have a 67 Tudor Coupe with fairly low mileage, from California. Candy Apple Red with parchment interior. My email is artdebpage@comcast.net.

Thanks!
