**Carb Help NEEDED**

Everyone, I need some input. I've been helping a friend with some things on his Thunderbird (don't flame for posting about a ford), but ran into a problem. He replaced the air intake on his Thunderbird without any problems. When replacing it he heard what sounded like a spring collapsing, but didn't see one fall. All parts are still in place. The linkage is intact and the top return spring is still in place. The engine wants to turn over. Below are a few pictures, with hope it will help. Any ideas?!?!?

What Thunderbird is this? What engine is in it? A Weber carburetor?

Transmission kickdown? Linkage correct?

Edelbrock carbs are stamped Weber for some reason--your setup looks something like the Edelbrock on my '64.

My setup is not pretty (I just got the car--haven't had time to clean it up), but you can see a second spring on the back for the transmission kickdown linkage. Looking at the photos you posted, it appears that this spring is missing. Also, is your thottle linkage on correctly? I don't see how the high idle cam can engage the way yours is put together.

I note that the spring is missing for the transmission kick-down.
