convertible top mechanical options for 1959

I am about to purchase a 59 Bird convertible but I can't tell if the top is fully automatic like the 61-66 birds, or if 59's were just manual deck lid with a power top. Was the fully automatic convertible an option for 59 and only on some models. The battery is dead and the top is up so I can't open the deck lid to see. Thanks, Jim

Don’t know if this is relevant for you now but in 1959 the fully automatic Top was offered in the later models of that year. I have a 59 with an early build date and is not fully automatic. Depends on when your car was built.

Here is a case of not paying attention to my own post. I asked this question back in January 2017 and without looking answered my own question a year and three months later. LOL. It pays to pay attention. How strange was this. Jim
