Unhappy Headliner Help

I have a very original 60 bird (Palm Springs Rose). THe interior is all original and in great shape for the most part.
The headliner is beautiful but the thread sewing the panels together is giving away.

My husband purchased a new "kit" for Larry's t-bird supply and is planning to have it installed. I am very leery of using a kit. It is not the money but I want it to look as original as possible.

Should I have my guy just make one, or is the kit ok. I wanted to use the original panels but was told that it would shrink up when re-sewn and not fit.

Any comments about this or suggestions.

Also the seats are perfect except the driver insert color on the seat. It needs to be replaced too. Should I do the insert for the upper and lower part of the driver seat? should I do the passenger the same to match?
