I don't know about an option back in the day but disc brake conversions are common. I'm more familiar with the big birds- I converted my '64 with a kit that uses parts from an 80's Chevy S-10, and a simple steel bracket that bolts onto my existing spindle. I don't recall his name right now but he was a US based shop that sells through Ebay. It was Toms Classics or something similar.

Use Google, or check Ebay for a vendor that sells a kit for your car.

On the older cars many times the conversion will require a larger diameter wheel to make room for the rotor and caliper. That was not a problem for me since I already had 15" wheels.
