Question Question regarding possible purchase

I am looking into buying a 62 sports roadster (with tonneau cover) from a guy. It is definitely in need of restoration (mainly exterior/cosmetic). From what I could tell it needed some bodywork (painting, replacement top, etc.). Generally, what is the ballpark figure for one of these in need of that kind of restoration? Thanks.

First off - how is it that you think you are buying a sports roadster, how much is the asking price> it sounds like a basket case. if it was real the current owner would probably not part with it because of its potential value. can you send me some pictures. it sounds like something I looked at a year ago. a lot of talk from the seller but he couldn't produce the reality of it.

more data needed. thanks

"You are looking into buying a 62 Sport Roaster." You are also looking into a money pit. You need an appraiser to evaluate the car for initial price and evaluation of engine/transmission/brakes/top/frame/suspension etc. etc. Do you have the trainng , education , experience , determination energy and time to correctly and safely restore at least most of the car or will you have to "farm it out " to a mechanic and/or bodyman? Ask a local bodyman and mechanic to look it over to get a ballpark restoration $ estimate . Don't want to discourage you from such a great adventure, but eyes wide open at this point will improve chances of a successful project

P.S. Is the car a true Roaster with the correct numbers or a convertable upgraded with roaster accessories to look like a roaster? Makes a huge difference now and down the road at sell time .
