Broken hood cable on my 1962

I just bought a 1962 Convertible and when I got it home the hood cable is pulled out all the way and I can't get the hood open. How do I get the hood unlatched from both sides? I see the center latch and can get that with a screwdriver but can't get the latches popped. Will I have to remove sheet metal or grill or bumper? Anyone can offer any help? Thanks Paul

centered behind the grill is lever attached to the rod that runs the rotating locks that hold down the hood. My 62 has a notch lever that a long handle screw driver will fit into and then push with a little down pressure on the hood. Good Luck
Richard

PS I JUST DID IT WITH A piece of metal tubing I had to push UP and back at the same time. pushing straight in did not work.
