Post carb overhaul; valves

This weekend, I'll be taking on the overhaul of my carb. It's the stock holley 4000. I've yet to be able to get it to idle properly, and it acts like the idle circuit is a little dirty, plus the choke isn't working properly. Any words of caution, suggestions, etc. for dealing with this little bugger?

Also this weekend, I'm adjusting the valves. Never done them on this particular vehicle. Again, does anyone have any particular advice for this project?

Thanks!
Stephen.
