Inside door handle works, outside doesn't!!
Just purchased a 56 a few weeks ago. At first, the driver's door opened from the outside but you had to pull very hard. Now the outside button doesn't feel like its contacting anything, the inside handle works fine. Anyone have any ideas before I dig in to it? Haven't had a chance to drive it yet, ordered new tires so I didn't want to disable the car till I had a chance to cruise in it! Thank you, Bill

There is a rod that goes from the back of the outside door unlock push button to the lock assembly. It sounds like yours has come disconnected, or may be bent and may be able to be resurrected. To do the job you will need to take the inside door panel off the car. Be aware that the outside door lock button won't do anything if the door key lock or the inside car lock are in the locked position. In this case the button can just be pushed and nothing happens. Are you sure that the door isn't locked? Maybe your lock assembly isn't correct.
