Carburetor for a 1957 with 292 engine

Could someone tell me what was the original carburetor with a 1957, 292 - 2 barrel? I think it was a Holley, but I don't know the number. Also, is there another low profile 2 barrel carburetor that will work and still have room to close the hood with the air cleaner on? My car is just a driver and I can't afford to take it back to original right now.

The original carb was a Holley 2300 2bbl. The original part number is ECJ-9510-AD, List 1486-1. The replacement had the same numbers except the last letters were AC.

The ECJ-AD and the List 1486-1 were stamped on the carb. The 9510 was not stamped.

Holley still makes the 2300, smallest CFM (350) has part # 0-7448. $308 list price, $274 from Jegs.

Ford had a number of low profile 2bbls (Autolite) starting in 58 or so that should fit although you may have to make modifications to the fuel lines and maybe the linkage. Check the junk yards.
