Opening the Glove Box on a 57?
I've put the key in the glove box lock cylinder and turned both ways but nothing changes. Is there a button to push. Sorry about the dumb question but Im trying to get to the owners manual so I dont have to ask dumb questions.

Hey Lex,
I had the same challenge, and ended up crawling under the dash to move the mechanism by hand (still couldn't see it from under there, but I could feel it by reaching over the top of the glove box) Then it turns out that the locking button you're trying to turn is actually a push button to open the glove box. My thumb goes into the button space up almost as deep as the base of my thumbnail as I push it to open it. Hope this helps. Aloha |

lex446,
The 55 is in storage at present, but as I recall, if the lock is unlocked, you just simply push on the button. On my car I have to push on the button to close the glovebox, otherwise the latch won't catch and keep it closed. But that may be just on my smallBird. |
