Heater control valve leaking

Im back, i have a pretty sizable leak of radiator fluid coming from my heater control valve. the leak is where the round aluminium sits on top of the brass piece that screws into the block. My heater is disconnected, i never use it. i am wondering if it worth trying to seal the leak, or if i have to get a whole new heater control valve to seal the leak?

thanks

Why not just replace it with a screw-on plug?
