Air Conditioner Compressor concern

My '66 Birds AC will blow really cold for about 45 seconds and then the compressor shuts down. It may take a minute or more for it to come back on. This repeats over and over so the car will not cool down. The system has been converted to 134A by the previous owner.
What might keep the compressor from constant running in this factory installed unit??

Some conversions had a high pressure cut out switch installed as R134 tends to create higher high side pressure. See if it has one installed or not. If it does it may be overcharged or the airflow across the condenser is not good enough. Gauge readings will tell the story here.

Ac repair

If you have problems with your 66, seek professional help. I have a 66 that has been converted and have no issues. I used a heating/cooling/radiator guy who was old enough to understand the complicated system in the car and knew what he had to do to update it. In the end it was cheaper than installing a new AC kit.

Make sure the min-max lever on the a/c panel is in the max position. Mine will keep cycling the compressor if it is at min. setting

You usually have to replace the receiver/dryer when converting from R12. It's located under the rad cover. If it looks original, that may be your problem.
