65 feathers

Due to hail damage I am stripping the exterior of the car to fix and repaint . Side chrome not an issue but the "feathers" are scaring me. Part of them are just an insert but the main fasteners dont pop. Heard something break and stopped on one. Do I need to pull the fender well to un bolt? The question here being....what holds them in? Thanx

There are several self threading screw on nuts holding these in place...part #371583-S35 and retainers #C5SB-16232...note: the last series could be incorrect as I have a faded parts book.

You will have to remove the inner wheel well liner to access.

Thanks for the info. It wasn't the answer I wanted but was the answer I needed!
