65 leaking oil

My 65 has always leaked a little bit of oil, even when new. Lately it has gotten much worse. I am thinking about trying Bar's engine oil Stop Leak treatment and / or a high mileage motor oil. The car has only 56,000 miles on the odometer. Any opinions?

It depends on the leak. Most of these products work well with rubber but not so much on cork. They have a petroleum distillate which reexpands the rubber. I've used a lot of the Lucas brand at the shop with very good results on newer cars. If the seals or gaskets are near rock hard they will not work. You won't harm anything by trying. I use the Lucas version twice a year in mine. The other advantage of the Lucas is the viscosity modifier which (as my engine has some wear) gives me about 10 psi higher hot idle oil pressure.
