Points and Sparks Plug Gap

I have a 66 with a 390 4B. Does anyone know the points and spark plug gap? Any help would be appreciated.

Points - 0.017 --- plugs 0.032 to 0.036
dwell 26 to 31 degrees

To do this you need a meter. I have a Sunpro multimeter that cks dwell, volts, amps and ohms. If you do a lot of engine tuning this is a handy tool

dwell

If you install the Pertronix kit (about $75) dwell is no longer a factor as you eliminate the condensor and points. Once you set the gap when you install the kit you are home free.
The insructions come with the kit.

Do you have a part number for a 66 390?

Igniter

Grg, most speed shops have the igniter but if you have a problem getting one the Bird Nest in Portland, Or. has them in stock.

carb

Greg, if you talk to the Bird Nest people, ask them about a good rebuilt Ford 4 barrel. I have had one on my 66 since it was new and they are easy to work on and do a good job.
