Post 292/312 info

Just joined this forum and am seeking help in working out problems in valve train of my 56 T-bird. Have had several incidents of the push rods becoming loose and getting out from underneath the rocker arms. First time required engine rebuild, this time slipped out and fell down in galley way, was able to retrieve but the upper cap was broken off. While retrieving this push rod bumped another rocker and that push rod dropped off into galley way. Have good engine experience but not with y-blocks. Any help out there ?

Jeff,

This is not a common problem with Y-Blocks. Somebody who last worked on the engine either screwed up royally by not using proper parts or just didn't tighten the jam nut on the rocker arm. Go back and use your good old common sense about engine basics and you will find the cause of your problem.

Tom
